KL Trains: LRT, MRT & Monorail Guide

Kuala Lumpur’s rail network (LRT, MRT, Monorail and the new LRT3) is the fastest way around the city and avoids the traffic. Here is how to pay, which pass to buy, and how to get started from Cormar Suites.

How to pay and ride (official)
- Buy a Touch ‘n Go card (KLIA, stations, NU Sentral, 7-Eleven) and reload it with cash or by app.
- Tap in and tap out at the gates.
- Without a card, buy a single-journey token or QR receipt at a station machine or counter. Bank cards are accepted there only, not at the gates (May 2026).
- For unlimited rides, buy Rapid Kembara at a station customer service counter (loaded onto TnG).
- Plan trips with the PULSE app (Google Play · App Store).
- Open payment is not live yet. As of 22 May 2026, Prasarana’s open-payment project (credit/debit card, Apple/Google Pay and QR tap-in) was at final contract award. Buses get it within 15 months of award and rail within 30 months. Today riders use a Touch ‘n Go card or a cash token/QR; bank cards work only at counters and machines to buy tokens or reload.
