Ride-hailing is the easiest door-to-door option in KL. Grab is the main app, AirAsia Ride (in the AirAsia MOVE app: Google Play · App Store) is an alternative, and fixed-price coupon taxis run from the airport.

Arriving at KLIA: our advice

  • Taxi counters cost more. Fixed-price taxi coupons from the arrivals counters are much more expensive than Grab or other e-hailing apps, often about double.
  • Travelling solo? Take the KLIA Ekspres to KL Sentral, then a Grab or the Monorail to Cormar Suites.
  • Two or more people? Grab or another e-hailing app is usually far cheaper than separate train tickets, and it takes you to the door.
  • Only use approved transport. Never accept a ride from people offering transport in the arrivals hall. Unlicensed taxis are illegal in Malaysia and not safe. Use e-hailing booked in the app, the official taxi counters, the trains or licensed buses.
  • Going beyond KL on a budget? Express buses run from the airport to towns across Malaysia. See KLIA airport buses and destinations.
  • Changing money? Airport money changers are often expensive. Use your bank card at an ATM or a licensed money changer in town. See changing money in Malaysia.
  • Premium service. Cormar Suites offers a premium Front Desk service for groups and discerning guests, and airport transfers can be booked in advance (fee applies). Ask the Front Desk on WhatsApp for details.

Grab: how to book

  • Book in the Grab app (Google Play · App Store) after collecting bags.
  • Go to the e-hailing pickup bays: T1 Level 1 Doors 3-4; T2 Transportation Hub Level 1 Door 5.
  • Drivers have 10 minutes at the kerb.
  • A RM2 entry fee is added to the fare.
  • From 16 Sept 2026 the KLIA e-hailing entry fee is RM2 at both terminals (was RM3 at T1). It shows as ‘Others’ on Grab receipts. T1 got an indoor waiting area and designated bays in August 2026, and drivers have 10 minutes at the kerb.

Typical fares

  • About RM80-100 off-peak, RM110-130 peak, to central KL (estimate).
  • About RM75 budget to RM120 premier, to KLCC/Bukit Bintang.
  • +50% from 00:00 to 06:00 (third-party 2026 guide).

Airport coupon taxis

  • Buy a fixed-price coupon at the taxi counter in arrivals; tolls are included.
  • Hand the coupon to the driver at the taxi rank.
  • About 45-75 minutes depending on traffic.

AirAsia Ride

  • AirAsia Ride (inside the AirAsia MOVE app) still operates in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. A Singapore launch was planned for June 2026, announced 12 Jan 2026.
