KL Bird Park

About ten minutes’ drive from the city centre lies a pocket of greenery that beats with wings: more than 3,000 birds of approximately 200 species. Welcome to KL Bird Park, established in 1991 inside the 60-hectare Lake Gardens (Perdana Botanical Gardens). At 20.9 acres, it bills itself as Asia’s largest bird park—and it is one of the easiest wildlife outings you can add to a city break.

Four Zones, One Feathery City

The park is divided into four zones so you can plan your route and stamina.

Zones 1 & 2 – Free-Flight Aviaries

Most visitors start here. Birds fly freely overhead under the netting, and paved paths wind past feeding stations. Lory feeding runs throughout the day (10:00–17:00). Keep cameras ready.

Zone 3 – Hornbill Park

Zone 3 is also free-flight and is home to the park’s hornbills. Look for the rhinoceros hornbill—the state bird of Sarawak—and catch Hornbill Feeding at 11:30.

Zone 4 – Aviaries & Caged Exhibits

Zone 4 is a series of smaller, traditional aviaries for species kept in enclosures.

Daily Feeding Schedule

  • 10:00–17:00 – Lory feeding and ostrich feeding (while stocks last)
  • 10:30 – Free-flying birds feeding
  • 11:30 – Hornbill feeding
  • 14:30 – Eagle feeding

Free Bird Show – Twice Daily

The bird show runs at 12:30 and 15:30 and is included in your ticket; arrive a little early for a good seat.
