KL Car-Free Morning — Start Your Sunday Run From Cormar
On the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, the heart of Kuala Lumpur trades honking horns for the soft slap of running shoes and the whirr of bicycle chains. From 7 am – 9 am the city’s most iconic streets belong to you—no cars, no cost, no registration, just show up and move. KL Car-Free Morning is the easiest, most feel-good way to see the capital, and Cormar Suites is close to the route.
What Exactly Is KL Car-Free Morning?
Think of it as the city’s twice-monthly reset button. Roads close for a 5 km or 7 km loop through the Golden Triangle, starting from Dataran DBKL/Merdeka. Anyone—solo travellers, families, grandpas in visors—can walk, jog or cycle for free. There are no bibs, no timing chips, no bag drops; just turn up before 7 am and pick your pace.
When Does It Run?
- 1st & 3rd Sundays only: 7 am – 9 am, on a 5 km or 7 km loop.
- No event on the 2nd, 4th or 5th Sundays. Sessions are sometimes cancelled for other events, so check before you set the alarm.
The exact route varies from session to session, so check the latest route on the day.
Why Cormar Guests Have the Best Starting Line
Location is everything when the alarm goes off early. Cormar Suites, at 10 Jalan Perak, is near the runner routes, and Raja Chulan Monorail, KLCC LRT and Bukit Bintang MRT are each within about a 10-minute walk. Finish the loop, head back for a quick shower and fresh clothes, and the holiday continues.
What to Bring for a Zero-Fuss Run
- Lightweight running shoes.
- Small sweat towel—KL mornings are humid.
- Phone armband for photos in front of the Petronas Towers minus traffic.
- A little cash for a drink after the run.
- Your room key—no bag drop needed.

Practical Tips to Enjoy the Ride
- Hydrate early: drink a glass of water the moment you wake.
- Start early: crowds are thinner, photos are golden, and you finish before the tropical sun turns serious.
- Slip-Slap-Slop: apply sunscreen before you head out.
- Share the road: cyclists roll faster; a courteous bell ring is common etiquette.

After the Run: Refuel Nearby
Note that Parry Road Café, on Cormar’s ground floor, is closed on Sundays. For lunch, Malai Thai and Vincenzo’s Pizzeria (both at Menara Ample West, 6 Jalan Puncak) and The Dark Horse in Life Centre all open at 12 pm, and all four Cormar restaurants deliver to your suite via the Front Desk on WhatsApp.
Ready to run? Book your Saturday night at Cormar Suites before a 1st or 3rd Sunday and wake up a short walk from the action. Questions? WhatsApp.
